Artistic Birthday

I hosted a Shoebox Swap for my downline (and anyone else interested in participating) after my Team Meeting on Sunday, and this was my swap card. I really enjoyed stamping with everyone, and trying out stamp sets I don't have (yet...). My card features Artistic Etchings, some of the new In Colours, and the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch (yay!). I created a patterned background by stamping different images with different ink colours and also used the stamp set for my focal image layered with a Filigree Brad, and the new scallop circle which works perfectly with the 1 3/4" circle punch. The sentiment is from Occasional Quotes, a new Level 3 Hostess set. This colour combination came from the new Colour Coach, which I love!

Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Occasional Quotes
Inks: Pear Pizazz, Peach Parfait, Concord Crush
Cardstock: Pear Pizazz, Concord Crush, Peach Parfait, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla
Punches: 2 3/8" Scallop Circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, Scallop Trim edge punch, Modern Label punch
Other: Filigree Brad

Birthday Wishes - Hello, Goodbye

This week for the Stampin' Connecition (Stampin' Up! Demonstrator site) Card Sketch Challenge, Carole'Anne created a sketch for us to use... I decided to use it to create one of the cards we'll be making at my Hello, Goodbye Party this weekend. I still have room for you to come, but only those who have already registered will get the Early Bird goody bags. I really like this set (Artistic Etchings) even though I wouldn't say it's my normal style. I alse really like this colour combination using several of the new Core Colours (Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Early Expresso). I created a fork bow with the new Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta ribbon.

Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Occasional Quotes
Inks: Marina Mist, Early Expresso
Cardstock: Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Early Expresso, Daffodil Delight, Very Vanilla
Other: Pinking Hearts Edge punch, Silver Brads, Flat-Backed Pearls, Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Newsprint DSP

Happy  Stamping,

Liz Goldhawk

Take Two for my Sketch...

I wanted to do another card for my sketch challenge this week, since my first one didn't have the accent elements shown... so here it is again! This is the second card we'll be making at my Sneak Peek night tomorrow. It features a new stamp set that co-ordinates with several punches called Perfect Punches, a Level Two hostess set called Fancy Flowers, Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta ribbon and the Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions folder. I also used new colours (Early Expresso, Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight). This colour combination came directly from the new Colour Coach which I love!

Sketch #90

I've got a card sketch today... for any SU! Demonstrator friends, it's also the card sketch challenge for this week at Stampin' Connection. If you're my friend, you can click on me, then look at my discussions, and you should be able to find it. If you search the Discussions for SCCSC22, you can find it that way too!

I've been playing with my pre-order, and I couldn't resist using my new Artistic Etchings stamp set, along with a colour combo I found on the new Colour Coach (which I love!!!). Hopefully you can see that I was inspired by the sketch, even though I didn't incorporate three of anything on the main panel.

The Eiffel Tower and patterned circle I stamped on the card base are both from Artistic Etchings. The thank you sentiment is from a beautiful new Level 1 Hostess Set (Because I Care) and I got it for free! If you'd like to get this set for free, you can join my team with the Mini Starter Kit for just $119 and order the New Colour Kit (6 new inkpads and a pack of 6 ass't colours) by June 30th to get Because I Care for Free! You can choose from several of the Sneak Peek sets in your Mini Starter Kit (including Artistic Etchings) as well. Anyone in Canada can join my team... please ask me for more details if you're interested!

Stamps: Artistic Etchings, Because I Care
Inks: Not Quite Navy, Old Olive
Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive

Last Chance Accessories!

I'm doing my best to use up most of these Last Chance items I still have in my stash... this made a little dent on my Felt Fusion supply, but I think they'll be ending up in my goody bags for my Hello, Goodbye Party. Some of these items are on sale too (Kraft Corduroy Buttons, Circle Designer Brads, Dusty Durango ink pad and cardstock)! This card is based on a sketch by Alex Hobson for a Stampin' Connection challenge.

Inks: VersaMark, Dusty Durango (last chance)
Cardstock: Close to Cocoa, Dusty Durango (both are last chance)
Accessories (all last chance): Pumpkin Pie Striped Grosgrain ribbon, Circle Brad, Felt Fusion, Kraft Corduroy Brad

More from your Punches - Sweet Peas

These Sweet Peas are made from the Butterfly Punch (punch cardstock, get it wet and crumple it up, uncrumple, fold in half and pinch and/or roll the bottom and let them dry). The leaves and buds are made from the 5 Petal Flower punch in the same way, and I just cut strips of cardstock for the stems and tendrils. The sentiment is from Watercolor Trio.

I wanted to make this card at the Technique Class last weekend, but the Sweet Peas took too long to dry!

Stamps: Watercolor Trio
Ink: Old Olive
Cardstock: Kraft, Whisper White, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, Orchid Opulence (Last Chance List), Melon Mambo
Other: Top Note Big Shot die, Mini Glue Dots, Cottage Wall DSP (Last Chance List)

Technique Class - More from your Punches!

I'm featuring the versatility of punches in this month's Technique Class... This card features the Two-Step Bird punch (wings=flowers) and the Ornament Punch (vase). I also used some of the leaves from the Two Step Bird Punch, and some from the Little Leaves Sizzlet. The Tiny Tags stamp set and Medium Jewelery Tag punch are the perfect way to add a small sentiment. I inked the edges of the wings and the ornament punch, and I added Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the flowers after I glued them all onto the card. The design of this card was CASE'd from Jessica Soboczynski.

Stamps: Tiny Tags
Inks: Almost Amethyst, Soft Suede, Rose Red
Cardstock: Kraft, Creamy Caramel, Sage Shadow, Pale Plum, Apricot Appeal, Blush Blossom
Punches: Two Step Bird, Ornament, Medium Jewelery Tag
Other: Chocolate Chip Patterns DSP, Linen Thread, Two-Way Glue, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter

June Technique Class - Get more from your Punches

In this month's Technique Class, I'm focusing on ways to get more from your punches... I love that they co-ordinate with many Stampin' Up! stamp sets, but it's great to get even more use out of them. This pansy (made with the Butterfly Punch) is all over the internet right now. Some are made with the Re-inker Float technique, but because of drying time for that method, I used sponges to apply the colour. Greenhouse Garden has the perfect (I think) pansy centre... I just wasn't happy with the lines I was drawing by hand. I'm still trying to use up my Last Chance Colours (Crushed Curry & Going Gray on this one) to get ready for the new catalogue next month!

The design of this card was CASE'd from Dawn Olchefske.

Stamps: Watercolor Trio, French Filigree
Inks: Going Grey, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry
Cardstock: Crushed Curry, Going Grey, Whisper White
Other: Stampin' Sponge, Sponge Dauber, Silver Brads, Top Note Big Shot Die, Large Oval Punch, Elegant Bouquet Textured Impressions Folder

Make, Take & Donate - Father's Day!

Tomorrow is my Make, Take & Donate at the Crouch Library. It's free, and we make three Father's Day cards. You choose one to donate to the Ronald McDonald House and keep the other two. This card uses Circle Circus and the sentiment is from All Holidays. I really like this colour combination: Wild Wasabi (Returning July 2010), Bermuda Bay (Last Chance), and Not Quite Navy. All the cards at this class are quick and easy... great for a beginning stamper or if you're limited in time. The class starts at 4:00pm, and we're usually done by 4:45! You're welcome to drop in if you'd like!
Here is the mini album we made in my Scrapbook Class on the weekend... it was really quick and simple to prep (and make) and I love the way it turned out! I'm starting a Scrapbook Club in July, so stay tuned for more info on that!

The covers are chipboard (covered with my second favourite Last Chance papers from the current catalogue - Cottage Wall) and the inside pages are hockey card protectors. It's all held together with an accordian folded piece of cardstock and Sticky Strip! I cut papers to go inside the hockey card sleeves, but you could just put pictures in there instead.

Stamps: Rough Type Alphabet
Ink: Rich Razzleberry
Cardstock: Pale Plum (Last Chance), Rich Razzleberry
Other: Cottage Wall DSP (Last Chance), Chocolate Chip 1 1/4" Striped grosgrain ribbon (Last Chance), Lots of Tags Sizzlet, Beautiful Wings Embosslit

Scrapbook Class - Cool in the Pool

This is the second 12x12 layout we made tonight in my scrapbook class. I used lots of Last Chance items on this layout (thankfully the stamps aren't though... I love Extreme Elements, and the Jumble Alphabet makes some fun titles). Both of the ribbons (Soft Suede Polka Dot grosgrain & Kraft Taffeta) are only available as supplies last. The Circle Brad (bottom left square) is half off -- just $4.25 for a pack of them. The Kraft Corduroy button (top right square) are 25% off -- just $10.13 for a pack of brads and buttons... I'm sad these will be gone. The Thoroughly Modern papers are also on the Last Chance list... these were my favourite papers from the catalogue. I love the colours and patterns... The Bermuda Bay ink pad is 50% off ($5.96) and the In Colour Textured 12x12 cardstock is also 25% off ($11.96). All of the Last Chance items are as supplies last, but gone after June 30th.

Scrapbook Class - Elephants

This is one of the layouts we'll be making in my Scrapbook Class this weekend (2 - 12x12 layouts and a mini album - $10.00). You can choose from masculine or feminine colour schemes when you register (or one of each). I used the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP, which is on the Last Chance List (available while supplies last). I really like the colour scheme and most of the patterns in these papers, so I'm enjoying using them before they're gone. I also used Watercolor Trio from the Summer Mini to add some stamped accents, and Contempo Alphabet (heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss powder) for the title. If you'd like to register for this class, it's this Sunday (June 6th) at 7:00pm.

Last Chance...

Out with the old to make room for the new! Today is the day that the Last Chance Lists (Stamps, Definitely Decorative & Accessories) got posted. I've added links to my sidebar with the PDF lists. The Accessories Link goes to the Stampin' Up! Store because these are only available while supplies last, and the online store is kept updated to make sure you get what you want. Some of the accessories are 25% or 50% off, and all of the Definitely Decorative Last Chance items are 25% off. If there is something on these lists that you really want, make sure to get your order in (you can contact me and I'll place it, or you can do it yourself in my store: http://www.lizgoldhawk.stampinup.net/ - click Shop Now).

I used lots of Last Chance items on this card... I still love Embrace Life, and I'm sad to see it go. That Chocolate Chip wide striped ribbon is one of my favourites too, and I love the corduroy buttons. I really like the grid and dot patterns in the Write Stuff Specialty paper pack too.

Last Chance Stamps: Embrace Life, Thinking of You
Last Chance Cardstock: Crushed Curry
Last Chance Stampin' Write Markers: Crushed Curry, Apricot Appeal, Only Orange
Last Chance Accessories: 1 1/4" striped Chocolate Chip ribbon, Kraft Corduroy button, Write Stuff Specialty DSP.
