Fine Flourish Emboss Resist

This card uses one of the single stamps from the back of the Occasions Mini Catalogue, Fine Flourish (only available until tomorrow at midnight!). I used VersaMark to stamp it on Whisper White cardstock, then heat embossed it with Clear Stampin' Emboss powder. After it cooled, I just used some Stampin' Sponges and inks (Rose Red and Not Quite Navy) to rub on some colour. The embossed areas resist the ink, and show through as embossed white lines. This is a quick and simple card with some Scallop Edge trim and a sentiment to finish it off.

Don't forget that many of the products in the Occasions Mini Catalogue will be gone forever after tomorrow, so if you know you want something, get it now!

Awash Tags

Another card I made (based on a sketch by Carole'Anne) using Awash with Flowers... a set I didn't think I'd like much, but it really grew on me! If you want this set now and don't want to wait until July, make sure you get it during the preview (ends April 30th). You can contact me for more info, or order on my website: http://www.lizgoldhawk.stampinup.net/ . This card also uses papers from the Sweet Pea stack, which was in the Occasions Mini, but has sold out so it's not available anymore. :(  I really liked this paper pack, and I hope we see more like it in the new catalogue in July...

Supplies: Stamps (Awash with Flowers, Teeny Tiny Wishes); Inks (Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Green Galore); Cardstock (Taken with Teal, Close to Cocoa, So Saffron, Kraft); Sweet Pea Paper Stack, Iridescent Ice Stampin' Emboss powder, Tag Corner punch, Signo White Gel Pen.

Stationary Kit Class

My Stationary Kit Class is this weekend (two times available - Sunday May 2 @ 1:00pm or 7:00pm). We're making this Stationary Kit (shown closed above) for just $15.00... it would make a great gift! I found the tutorial on Jackie Topa's blog, and used the Rich Razzleberry DSP to make mine.

Once you take off the lid, this is what you see:

There are different compartments for full size cards, love notes (3x3), gift tags, a pen and a little book (notebook or address book) and a pocket for stamps. Included in my class are four each of the full size cards, love notes and gift tags. I've included pictures of the cards and tags below:

If you would like to take this class, please sign up by Thursday April 29th. My e-mail is in the sidebar. If you can't make it to the class and you'd like a to-go kit, please contact me for that option. You will receive all pre-cut and scored pieces, plus instructions to put the kit together. Any stamping will be done by you as well.

Supplies: Stamps (Paradise, Tiny Tags, A Little Birthday Cheer, Very Vintage Jumbo Wheel, French Filligree, Circle Circus); Inks (Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive); Cardstock (Kraft, Old Olive, Naturals White, Rich Razzleberry); Rich Razzleberry DSP, Wide Oval Punch, Curly Label Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, Tag Corner Punch, 5-Petal Flower punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 3/4" circle punch, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon, Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Ribbon, Scallop Trim Punch (available in July)

Just stamping...

Kristina posted a One Layer Card Challenge this week, and I think this card proves that all you need to make a great card are stamps, inks and paper (in this case, plain white!). This is a single layer card (no extra stuff glued on top) and the colours and stamps are the focus. Masking  is a great technique to use to add dimension to a single layer card... usually I sponge inside the mask, but for this card, I wanted to contain the stamping. I stamped the Crushed Curry blob first, then put on a rectangle mask (a post-it with a rectangle cut in it) and stamped the rest of my images from Extreme Elements. I left a blank spot for the FYI (stamped in Jet Black StazOn). I took off the mask and stamped my skateboarder in Jet Black StazOn as well, and then stamped the second part of the sentiment outside of the stamped block.

So what do you think? Does this card need anything else?

supplies: Stamps (Extreme Elements, Extreme Skateboarder, FYI); Inks (Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, Sahara Sand, Jet Black StazOn);  Whisper White Notecard.

Mother's Day Make, Take & Donate

Each month (on the 2nd Wednesday) I offer a free class at the Crouch Library. We make three cards based on a theme, and everyone chooses one card to donate to the Ronald McDonald House and keeps the other two.

Since this is the last class before Mother's Day this year, we're making the three Mother's Day cards below. I donate my time and the materials, so you don't need to bring anything... these are all quick and simple cards (using the basics - stamps, ink and paper) and the class runs from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. I welcome all ages (under 7 please bring helper) and all experience levels... this is a great class for new stampers.

Please contact me for more details, or to register for this class!

Sarah's Challenge...

on her blog last week:

Pick a Becky Fleck sketch from the Spring issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today - check!

Pick a colour combo from Colour Lovers - check! (what a fun site... I'll be going back over and over and over)

and create a layout - check!

I adapted the sketch to 11x8.5, and picked the colour combo before the pictures--I couldn't resist this sequence of pictures, even though it meant I used pink (just a tad) on this layout.

Thanks for the fun challenge Sarah!

Supplies: Stamps (Perfect Alpha); Inks (Rich Razzleberry); Cardstock (Core'dinations - I used the back sides from some of the Chocolate Box c/s, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry); Patterned Papers (Jillibean Soup, Stampin' Up!); Scallop Edge Punch, Playground Buttons, American Crafts felt circles.

Colour Renovation!

This is big news, and I'm super excited that Stampin' Up! has decided to revamp their colour families coming up with the new catalogue in July! There will be four new Collections (Brights, Neutrals, Regals and Subtles) with ten colours each as well as five new In Colours each year. This means that some of the colours from the old families are being discontinued (they'll be available until June, and then only as supplies last during June), some of my favourite past In Colours are being added to the Core Collection (yay for Baja Breeze!!!), and there will be five brand new colours! Kraft will be called Crumb Cake, and we'll be able to get ink, a Stampin' Write marker and accessories to match it! You can see the fresh new colour collection here...

Don't they look great together? I can't wait to get my hands on some of the new colours. Demonstrators get to order starting in June, so if you'd like that perk (among all the others of being a Demonstrator) let me know, and I'd be happy to give you all the information you need.

The Fond Farewell list below shows the colours that will be gone June 30th.

There are some colours from this Fond Farewell list that I'll miss, but they're not gone yet! If some of these are your favourites, make sure to get them before June 30th.
